These stunning earring's are teardrop-shaped polymer clay pieces that showcase mesmerizing iridescent colors including vibrant blues, purples, gold, and emerald greens. Each earring consists of two elements - a small teardrop and a larger one - connected with purple findings. The Mokume Gane technique creates a luminous, oil-slick effect with metallic gold highlights that shift and change as they catch the light. The swirling, marbled patterns resemble butterfly wings or peacock feathers, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.

This is part of my Liquid Metal series using “pearl” and metallic look clays. I create the patterns using the Mokume Gane technique taken from a form of Japanese metal layering. The clays I use are stacked on top of each other and then manipulated with different shapes pushed into the layers of clay. Them thin slices are shaved off of the stack creating the patterns you’ll see in this series.

I first discovered polymer clay over 30 years ago. Polymer clay is a soft plastic clay that can be formed into just about anything. When you’ve finished your piece it is baked in an oven at low temperatures and this cures it into a hard but somewhat flexible piece.

When I first discovered polymer clay 30 years ago I made a few things and then lost interest. Fast forward to 10 years ago when I rediscovered it and boy oh boy did I ever get hooked. It is the perfect medium to create amazing pieces.

A typical happy day for me is spent in my shop creating beautiful things!

Everything in my store is made from polymer clay, a very versatile medium that can be made into many different creations. I make many different styles of jewelry and my favorite is making scenic landscape earrings where each earring is a tiny scene. I also make polymer clay paintings that are made entirely of polymer clay, no paint is used. The “paintings” are made on picture frame glass and baked right on the glass. These paintings take a few weeks to create, I use tiny tools to create the scenery, and blend and texture the surface.

I first discovered polymer clay over 30 years ago. I lost interest and didn't rediscover it until almost 10 years ago after I retired. I was captivated! This medium has so many endless possibilities. I've made jewelry, bowls, nightlights, and my personal favorite is "painting " where landscape scenery is created entirely of polymer clay. I now make landscape scenery paintings, earrings, and pendants. My scenery paintings may take a month to create because of the intricate details.
