The rates above apply to individual sellers and groups/cooperatives. If you are a fair trade company committed to ethical practices, you may apply to our Marketplace Partner Program for consideration on Handmade.com. For an additional Marketplace Partner Fee, you’ll be able to manage and represent multiple maker pages and groups under a single primary storefront. This program is available exclusively to fair trade companies.

Should I apply if there’s a large waitlist right now?

Yes. We’re onboarding in waves and reviewing applications carefully. Applying now secures your place and ensures you’re considered as we open new spots.

If I already applied and I’m on the waitlist, is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

Not directly, but putting your best foot forward helps. Applications that clearly show high-quality, unique work tend to move through the process more quickly as we onboard in waves. If you feel your original application didn’t fully showcase your best work, you’re welcome to apply again.

Do I really never pay monthly or new listing fees?

Correct. When you join during early access, your zero monthly and new listing fees are locked in permanently. That’s our ‘Thank You’ for helping build a marketplace we believe in.

What should I consider about the $1.00 flat fee if I sell lower-priced items?

If you sell items under $20, the $1.00 flat transaction fee represents a larger portion of each sale. We recommend factoring it into your pricing or offering bundles to protect your margins — a small adjustment that can make a meaningful difference.

Do you offer international sales and shipping, and what are the rates?

The rates above apply to in-market sales (for example, U.S. to U.S.). Sellers will have the option to ship internationally, but rates, shipping costs, and duties will vary for those orders. Additional details on international selling are coming soon.

What exactly is the platform marketing fee, and where does it go?

During early access, your platform marketing fee applies to every sale and goes directly into the campaign to bring buyers to the platform. Influencer partnerships are already in motion, PR and paid advertising, and activating millions of buyers who already spend money on handmade goods — all designed to keep buyers coming to the platform. Your shop will be set up, ranked, and ready when each wave of buyers arrives.

Can I reduce my marketing fee?

Yes — Handmade.com is built around community, and we believe sellers who build one should be rewarded for it. When your shop reaches 50 followers during the early access period, your marketing fee drops — a reward for the community you've built that stays with you for life. More milestones and rewards are coming as we roll out this program, but this is your first opportunity to lower your fees simply by growing your audience. Start building your following early.

Is early access actually a better deal?

For most active sellers, yes — significantly. You pay zero overhead forever, saving $45–$72+/year depending on how many listings you carry. That said, early access isn’t the right fit for everyone. If you’re not ready to sell yet or plan to list only occasionally, the timing may not work in your favor. But for sellers who are ready to hit the ground running, the marketing push we’re making during the public rollout means your shop will have momentum from day one. After the early access period, when marketing becomes opt-in, early access sellers have a permanently lower cost base.

When does early access end, and what changes?

Early access pricing is estimated to run through late 2027 — we'll notify all sellers well in advance before the period ends, giving you plenty of time to plan.

Can basic-rate sellers eventually catch up in rankings if I decide to join after the early access period?

Yes — eventually. Rankings are based on shop history, sales, reviews, and listing activity, and that history takes time to build. Sellers who join after the early access period start from scratch, while early access sellers have already been building their presence and follower base.
