eclectiQuas eclectiQuas Broken China Jewelry, Upcycled and Handmade Gifts
Hailing from the worlds of fashion design and apparel manufacturing, set and costume design, Fine Art and the creation of her own biomorphic wall sculptures, Erika Garell, couldn’t be more excited about her newest creative adventure, eclectiQuas. eclectiQuas features one of a kind and limited production eclectic jewelry, all produced in the USA, using vintage porcelain and antique bone china, gold-plated and sterling silver settings and findings, and embellished with stunning accents such as Swarovski crystals and pearls.
eclectiQuas style was born from a diverse combination of Erika’s artistic interests and cultural influences. Over the course of her creative life, Erika has developed a unique bicultural aesthetic as a half Japanese, half British-American woman, that she embraces in her work as both an artist and designer. Erika has always been fascinated by the Japanese and English sensibilities as they relate to chinaware, and in particular, the crossover of the two aesthetics through Imari porcelain. The rich colors, unlikely color combinations, intricate patterns, use of gold and silver, and beautiful composition of each plate influence the design and uniqueness of each piece of eclectiQuas jewelry. Together with the elegant gold and silver settings and findings, and the striking accents such as freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals, eclectiQuas jewelry honors the rich tradition of the antique porcelain and bone china used, to give each original jewelry piece a new, repurposed, and celebrated life.

Erika Northern California, USA | "The things we create are meant to be shared, admired, and cherished." --Erika Garell
My life is deeply rooted in creativity, family, and the things that bring me joy. My family—my husband and three grown daughters—are at the center of everything I do. I love worldwide travel, cooking, sharing incredible meals, gardening, and playing competitive tennis. I also feel incredibly grateful to do work I truly love through my company eclectiQuas, where I can bring together my passion for color, texture, pattern, diverse materials and media in ways that reflect my eclectic taste and unique artistic sensibilities.
Maker BadgeInspiration
The women in my life have deeply shaped the way I see beauty, artistry, and design. My Japanese mother and grandmother nurtured my appreciation for finely crafted handmade objects, and introduced me to the rich colors, intricate detail, and unexpected compositions found in Japanese porcelain, lacquerware, and traditional kimonos. My daughters inspire me with their fearless sense of style and creative use of bold color, texture, and layering. Together with my lifelong passion for creating art, these influences have shaped my love for transforming once-loved pieces into handmade keepsakes, beautifully reimagined into pieces with their own distinct story.
Maker BadgeWhat Art Means to Me
I’ve always been drawn to objects that reflect the hand of the artist and the spirit of a culture. My home is filled with collected treasures from my travels — pieces that reflect the artistry, traditions, and creative spirit of cultures around the world. I surround myself with large abstract paintings, intimate prints and drawings, richly textured textiles like Sashiko, Kuba cloth, Moroccan and Otomi embroidery, Japanese kimono fabrics and obi sashes, small sculptural works, Japanese Arita porcelain, Talavera pottery, fine English bone china teacups, lacquerware from Kanazawa, and other handcrafted works that carry a strong sense of history and identity. I love how artists around the world express their lives, cultures, beliefs, and artistic sensibilities through the objects they create. My own tastes have always leaned eclectic — inspiring the name eclectiQuas — bringing together color, pattern, and individuality through my own way of working with materials and meaning.
