People know me as a quiet, serious and friendly. I'm Ketut Darmawan and I was born on March 3, 1976 in Gianyar, Bali. I only graduated from senior high school since my parents had financial difficulties and could not support my studies in university. Now I own a jewelry studio.
I have two children, which means I have a big responsibility for my children's future, and I believe this has changed me into a better and wiser person.
The small village where I live is mostly settled by artisans, woodcarvers and silversmiths. With the help of a friend, I began to learn about silverwork in a class where now I am a teacher, and teach tourists about Balinese silverwork. I like Bali for the weather, our rich culture and the people who appreciate artworks. The Balinese environment and atmosphere inspire me to transform my ideas into actual jewelry pieces.
For materials I use silver, copper, brass, gemstones and poly suede, which I get from Denpasar, and I work with traditional tools. Since now I teach at my workshop, I am mainly designing and I work with a team of silversmiths. By joining Novica I hope my products can compete in the global market.
