Shades of Violet was created from a very personal place.

Alzheimer’s is not just a disease you read about — it is something that changes the rhythm of everyday life for the person living with it and for everyone who loves them. It asks families to hold on tightly, to adjust constantly, and to find patience and tenderness in moments that can be heartbreaking.

This bracelet is my small way of honoring that journey.

The shades of purple represent Alzheimer’s awareness, but they also represent love, memory, dignity, and hope. Each bead is woven by hand into a flexible Kumihimo braid, creating a piece meant to be worn as a quiet reminder: you are not alone, your loved one matters, and every memory deserves to be honored.

Thirty percent of the proceeds from this bracelet will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association to support Alzheimer’s research.

Bead & Braid Collective grew from my love of working with beads and creating handcrafted pieces that combine beautiful colors, interesting textures, and detailed craftsmanship.

My work includes Kumihimo jewelry, created using the traditional Japanese art of braiding, as well as intricately beaded ornament covers. I enjoy exploring different color combinations and selecting materials that bring out the beauty and character of each piece.

Everything in my collection is handcrafted by me in Arizona, one bead at a time. Whether I'm creating a bracelet, necklace, or decorative ornament cover, I take pride in the patience, attention to detail, and care that go into the finished piece.

My love of Kumihimo has also inspired Woven with Purpose, a personal fundraising effort benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. Alzheimer's has touched our family, and this project allows me to connect something I enjoy creating with a cause that's especially meaningful to me.

Hi, I’m Tracy — the artist behind Bead & Braid Collective.

I discovered Kumihimo during a chaotic time when I needed something calming, structured, and creative. What started as a quiet creative outlet became a meaningful way to design jewelry with patience, intention, and attention to detail.

Each piece is hand-braided using traditional Japanese Kumihimo techniques, glass seed beads, and carefully chosen color patterns. I love creating jewelry that feels thoughtful, wearable, and just a little bit special.

My Alzheimer's Awareness bracelets were created from personal caregiving experience and a desire to honor families affected by Alzheimer's. Each bracelet is handcrafted in shades of violet, a color often associated with Alzheimer's awareness, and is meant to symbolize love, strength, memory, and support. This collection is especially close to my heart because it reflects both the beauty and difficulty of walking alongside someone through memory loss. My hope is that these bracelets offer a small but meaningful way to show support, start conversations, and remind caregivers and families that they are not alone. For every Shades of Violet bracelet purchased, I will donate $15 to the Alzheimer's Association through my Woven with Purpose fundraising page (https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/tracyjohnson/woven-with-purpose).
