I specialize in handwoven rag rugs from upcycled materials. I source waste fabrics from the furniture and fabric manufactures. My favorite fabric source is the donation bin on my front porch for denim jeans. New warp thread provides a strong base for the rug. Along with a good strong beat to compact the fabric nice and tight. This makes a strong, durable rug that will last a long time.

My weaving story starts out at my kids' school. We had a 1920 Newcomb #3 loom for making denim rag rugs as a fundraiser. Then the computer age hit. They needed a room for a computer lab. Looms and computers do not play well together! They decided to dispose of the loom. I took the opportunity to move it to my house to continue as a hobby. A hobby that in short order blew up into a full-blown side hustle!

I now have the Newcomb #3 and 2 Leesburg looms in my fleet. I enjoy sourcing my fabrics from up cyclers. Selvedges from the furniture industry, fabric coils from the fabric industry, bolts of fabric rescued from garment manufactures and the tried and true blue jeans!

I enjoy working with colors and various fabrics. Experimenting with fabric strip patterns and warp thread color patterns to create unique designs. Not one rug is ever identical. Some of my best designs come from "errors" in the creation process. Strips too long here or too short there create wonderful color changes.
