Luiz Dias hand-crafted resin jewelry

"I began crafting in silver in the early 80s to help pay for my degree. I became so involved in my art that I abandoned my studies, and have since been dedicated to creating. I was born in São Paulo, and my first selling point was the traditional craft fair at Praça da República. I gradually made my way to Rio de Janeiro, traveling along the coast and spending some time in the cities of Ubatuba and Paraty.

"I developed a technique for working with cold enamel using polyester resin, the same material used to create synthetic stones. I was fascinated by the colors and transparency and how the mixture of colors created a psychedelic effect. Over the past twenty years, I have been continually refining this technique and creating new product lines.

"I live in a mountainous city in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and where I live, we do not have telecommunications resources. My experience with selling has always been direct with the public, I have never displayed them in stores. With Novica, I can share my creations originating from the heart of the Atlantic Forest to the whole world."
