"My name is Komang Purnajaya, and as a painter I am known as Koko Bali. I was born and raised in a village known for its arts and culture. I was born to a father who was a sculptor and also a painter. I am very grateful to have both hardworking parents, they never get tired of caring for, educating, and loving their three children.
"Since childhood, I really liked to paint, but I did not realize that painting is a talent and can be practiced until it becomes a job. When I was in elementary school, I participated in a painting competition and it turned out that I was the winner. Since then I believe that this talent is a gift from God that I must develop.
"When I was in high school, I chose to attend a vocational high school that could help me focus my skills on painting. After graduating from school I worked selling paintings at a local market. I didnt expect that my paintings would be very popular with tourists who were on holiday in Bali.
"Until now I have been pursuing abstract painting because for me abstract painting is very interesting. I always imply Balinese cultural arts in every work I produce. In painting sometimes, my father gives input and helps mix color paint to produce more beautiful works. Several times my work has been included in various painting and art exhibitions in Bali. For me, it is a form of appreciation for my work."
