“My name is Adbel Ataurima. I was born in 1985 in Lurín, Lima. I consider myself a very cheerful, friendly and collaborative man. I became interested in this art because of the jobs I have had and the career I studied (textile engineering), as well as the passion I feel for design. I learned everything I know today by directing the different factories that make sweaters in Lima. In order to learn and acquire mastery, I had to train and set myself new challenges, expanding my knowledge in this area. I work only with a few of my family; we are more of a technical team of professionals. We have weavers, seamstresses and finishers, each one in its specific area. They are responsible for the technical criteria.
“Starting to work alone has been very difficult; but with a lot of effort and work, everything can be achieved. At the beginning of operations in this textile sector, orders were scarce, but little by little with the confidence that they had in us, we had more opportunities with new clients. In the pandemic, we were forced to close for several months, and we believed that everything would end; but the orders arrived and we were able to continue operating with all our collaborators.
“The challenges that I had to face were many both on the economic, labor and emotional path. The pandemic did hit us, but we knew how to get up and move on without leaving our dreams aside. My dreams, hopes and plans are to consolidate my garments as one of the most outstanding lines of sweaters, with exclusive and widely trusted products.
“I seek to be inspired by landscape, drawings and paintings. What excites us is to see our products and designs on people, showing off and appreciating our work. I share my knowledge by teaching the management and production process in seminars and courses at the National University of Engineering, which makes me very proud to be able to instruct on my art. I am very happy to be part of the Novica family and the great artists that are here.”
