"Many people, including my family, considered painting is not a good profession, relating to economic aspect. But I have faith in my way of life and will exist and be consistent in making paintings. I have received second prize in the Universal Painting competition in Yoyga, Central Java in 1989, and second place in creating political caricatures at IAIN Yogya, Central Java in 1990. I also won third place award in sketching gravity at Gramedia Jakarta in 1997. In 1988, I moved to Bali, known as the center of the world of art. Balinese social life and culture inspire me greatly."
Since 1988, Harman has participated in numerous collective exhibitions throughout Bali and Java as well as in Kyoto, Japan, in 1989.
