My name is Jacqueline Daza and I was born in 1967 in Colombia. I remember my beginnings in this art date back to when I was in school and struggled with subjects like math, physics, and science. I excelled in crafts, arts, and cooking. Ive always had a special connection with crafts since I was very young, and I was fortunate to develop my skills while in school. When I started my craft, I was 21 years old and already had two children. I began with the education my parents provided, without much money in my pocket. I was determined to succeed on my own. My financial situation at that time was not stable, and I struggled for 8 years to find stability. Today, after 33 years of running my workshop, I feel very satisfied and grateful for life, which gave me the strength to rise and achieve so much. Many challenges have led to wonderful product creations that have taught me a great deal. My motto is always to continue and persist. The art of weaving runs in my blood and heart. Thanks to the gift that God has given me, Ive been able to accomplish many things. Its part of my essence, disposition, and the dedication of my life and energy. I cannot imagine my life without doing what I do. This work requires commitment, respect for the art, gratitude for the learning and growth. In the workshop, I am always seeking different ways to innovate, overcome challenges, and achieve dreams. Without a doubt, what I enjoy the most is designing, experimenting with new materials, and combining colors. I often use cotton or fibers with a certain percentage of cotton because it feels great to the touch and adds durability to the products. I always strive to innovate in my designs. Ive been able to use new materials such as banana fiber yarn, copper thread, and tin thread. Creating interesting thread compositions is truly enjoyable for me. One very special thing I have to share is that my current partner and I got married 7 years ago after being together for 38 years. It was an incredible experience because we are both very creative. I had the honor of making my own wedding dress with my own fabrics; I designed and assembled it myself. It was one of the most special days of my life. If my friends were to describe me, they would say that I am a persistent person who always moves forward to achieve my dreams. They would also say that Im innovative, as Im always researching new materials, textures, and creating new compositions for each client. Moreover, I am deeply concerned about delivering excellent product quality to my customers.
