Nancy Quiaoit US
I am a visual artist with the privilege of having grown up in a creative household in the California Foothills. My mother, an artist, greatly influenced my passion for the arts. As a self-taught artist, I find that painting provides a profound means of self-expression. I create my works without the use of references, relying solely on my memory and imagination. I am deeply engaged in the entire process of bringing my creations to life.
I am also a strong advocate for ensuring that the arts are accessible to young people. In my spare time, I teach art classes for children and adolescents, fostering their creativity and appreciation for the arts.
My artwork primarily explores themes related to oceans, mermaids, and familial relationships. I believe that oceans are vital to all forms of life and must be nurtured in order to thrive, which informs my focus on this subject matter. I am particularly drawn to mermaids as they represent both a powerful force of nature and the playful, feminine aspects of existence. Additionally, I strive to capture the affectionate ties that exist within relationships through my art.
Currently, I reside in Northern California with my husband and two sons, who continually provide me with support in my artistic endeavors. I operate from my home studio, where my rescue dogs supervise my creative activities.
ABOUT MY ARTWORK:
I sell my art online and in galleries. I'm pleased to share that my artwork was published in Laguna Beach Magazine, Pink Magazine, Paisley Magazine, in the Golden Thread Project book by The Golden Thread Gallery and on the cover of country singer, Patrice Webb's CD. It's also been used on Universal Studio and TLC sets. One of my mermaid paintings can seen in the movie Sisters starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I have large mural paintings hanging in Bay Area businesses in located in Black Hawk, California. And it was an honor to have my mermaid paintings on display at the ADEX International show In Singapore, India, China, Indonesia and Egypt promoting plastic free oceans which is something I believe in.
