Handmade: A Global Artisan Marketplace Ubud, Indonesia
"I am Bisma, and I've been fortunate to live in a place where different cultures intersect. My mother ran a home sewing business when I was in elementary school through high school because she had a deep love for fashion. During that time, I often accompanied her to fabric shops when she went fabric shopping. Later, I continued my studies in Yogyakarta, Central Java, and Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was during this time that I realized my interest aligned with my mother's. I ventured into creating several products using fabric choices that I loved. Little did I know that these products would lead me to a point where my designs could be enjoyed by a wide audience. From there, I endeavored to convey my experiences using traditional Indonesian fashion as the focal point.
"My products relate to the art, traditions, and the history of the materials they are made from. I hold great respect and admiration for the diversity and richness of these traditions. My aim is to translate the stories embedded in the fabric of artisans into fashion that others can appreciate. The products I create emphasize three key elements: simplicity, comfort, and versatility. I value the freedom of expression and self-celebration as these aspects can lead to innovative creations.
"I anticipate that this collaboration with Novica can make a positive impact in social and cultural spheres, acting as a bridge for my ideas, enthusiasm, and creativity to reach an international audience."
