"Though I was born in Guatemala City and brought up in Peten, birthplace of Maya civilization. I think that growing up in Peten made me develop a special connection with nature and experience it as a part of me. I believe nothing compares to the sounds of the jungle, especially at night.

"Thanks to my parents I've learned everything about handicrafts and I find interesting how today's artisans continue to use the type of tools and techniques developed by the ancient Mayas.

"My older brother and I decided to start working together more or less in 2010, guided by the idea of creating weaves that would be somewhat different since there is a great opportunity to work on the textiles of my country, which are renowned worldwide. And that's how we decided to start with hammocks and hammock swings.

"My first items were white hammocks using the natural color of the threads, and then we began to weave them in different colors, always making sure we made improvements where needed, according to what people were looking for. Throughout this time I've learned a lot and have had many great experiences.

"I'll never forget what it felt like to sell the first hammock I made – it was like my first love! The people who know me would tell you I'm quite the enthusiast and charismatic, as well as a go-getter. I love to practice sports, study and go out with my friends. I am a man of simple means that enjoys life just as it is, and has a positive outlook on life. I have faith in everything I undertake.

"I feel very proud of what we have achieved so far. I'm involved in every step from designing the hammock and choosing the colors of the threads and pinewood. It feels amazing to see how something that began as an idea in my head becomes a finished product.
