WORTH THE WAIT
I had seen this piece a few years ago, but for reasons lost to history, I did not buy it. Earlier this year I chalked it up to "the one that got away," and purchased another sculpture by Rojas. When this did become available, I hesitate, but my husband also was charmed and encouraged me to buy it. I am so glad. Everyone who has seen it has said. "Oh. that is beautiful!' It is, and besides the execution, the individualization of the figures draws the viewer in. This is a great nativity/

Stunning nativity.
I'm a collector and have other pieces from Dionisio. This one I had to wait and be informed that it was available again. Last year I took one or two days to decide, and it was gone immediately. This is why when I was notified it was again available I did not hesitated and bought it. It is impressive. The amount of work, creativity and art in this nativity only speaks of Dionisio's passion to create what is beautiful and artistic. thank You!!!! I will surely keep on buying from this artist again.

Dionisio Rojas

The artistry of Dionisio Rojas Gutierrez has been featured in the Cincinnati Inquirer.

Dionisio Rojas Gutierrez is an artisan from the Andes mountains of southern Peru. He has worked since the age of ten with his cousins, who are also ceramics artists, and his aunt who had an art store in his hometown. Rojas sold his ceramic artwork locally as a teenager and won art contests at local, state, and national levels as his skills progressed. Alongside his lovely wife, he fully dedicates himself to his ceramic artwork, in particular churches, lamps, animals, and musicians.

He forms the vases on the potter's wheel, while figurines are shaped by hand or in a hand-made mold. The pieces are fired it at a temperature of 900º C (1,652º F). When they have cooled, Rojas paints the motifs and protects each piece with a coat of varnish.
