I took up dressmaking and design when I was 15 years old as I helped my sister with her custom made clothing business. When I finished high school, I went to one of the oldest dressmaking schools in Jakarta, where I specialized in pattern design and dressmaking. After completing my course, my sister and I designed our first ready-to-wear collection for men and women.
I have also created a one-of-a-kind, limited edition apparel collection that includes silk and linen scarves and shawls. My garments are informed by traditional designs, from across the Indonesian archipelago of more than a thousand islands, many of which have their own unique cultures, costumes and designs. The result is a unique interpretation, modern and casual, with hints of ancient ritual and tradition woven into the final product. I have also begun to include influences from other South East Asian countries, resulting in a stunning array of colors and design.
