"I'm Arnab Das and I come from an area of West Bengal famous for its mangoes and silk farming. I was born in 1987 and studied art at Bengal Fine Art College. I was interested in painting as a child. My family and especially my mother inspired me to pursue art. I'm also inspired by Salvador Dali and Rembrandt paintings.
"Painting fascinates me because I don't need words to express my feelings. Once, in fourth grade, I sat under a tree to sketch during break time. My teacher liked my work and encouraged me to look forward and carry on with my painting. When I was young, I once visited a nearby river, sat under a tree and painted. The owner of a nearby oil reservoir liked it so much that he offered to buy my painting then and there. It was the first time I earned money.
"My paintings are inspired by a keen observation of nature, by exploring new places, meeting different people and learning about their lifestyles. Sometimes, I'm so engrossed in my work that I paint for hours. I express my thoughts and imagination through my paintings.
"I have participated in numerous exhibitions. I work at home, using canvas, oil, paper and watercolors. I love to hear people's reactions to my art."
