Rose Mary Mendez

Bio

“My name is Rose Mary Mendez. I was born in a rural part of Costa Rica. I grew up in a large family with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. I liked painting from a young age. I believe that it is one of the best forms of expression that a human being has, where the mind flies and creativity takes place, creating from a limitless array of feelings that can be transmitted onto the canvas.

“From a young age, I participated in school events, where I almost always won awards for the paintings I made. I believe that I got it from my family; my father liked to draw and paint. He painted different pieces and I sat to observe and see the marvel that was the art of painting.

“I live on a small farm, where I get the majority of my inspiration. Each piece carries a story with it; many times it is a dream, a landscape, or an ordinary day in the rural zone. I always try to capture them with the small details that make my pieces unique.

“I have dedicated myself to painting for 6 years, more or less. Painting has filled my life with satisfaction, as many people appreciate my artworks. I feel very motivated by each person that chooses one of my pieces to decorate their home.

“I have the blessing of having my children and my husband. They always support me so that I can continue with my dream, which is to raise up the name of my country, bringing my works, which are made with a lot of love and dedication, to every little corner of the world. I am also blessed that my children have the ability to draw. Whenever I have an idea, they help me to make it a reality. I hope to see them fulfill their dreams and that they are hardworking people for a better future, not only for themselves, but also for their country.

“I am very excited to be able to have this opportunity that has filled me with encouragement. I hope to continue painting and transmitting in my works the feelings and the beauty of the nature that surprises us with something marvelous every day.”
