Patricia Y Donaldo

Bio

"Im Donaldo, from Santa Cruz del Quiché, and Im Patricia, from Chichicastenango, both towns are in Guatemala. We want to share our story as artisans.

"Our journey as artisans began on an ordinary day while we were walking together. We were both in college, facing challenges in finding job opportunities. Thats when we started exploring ideas for our own business. Despite economic limitations, the concept of creating artisanal bags emerged in our conversation. We lacked experience in crafting, but necessity drove us to learn on our own.

"Donaldo acquired a used sewing machine, and although his initial attempts were clumsy, his perseverance led to improved skills. By selling his first creations to family members, he found a spark of hope and the opportunity he had been longing for. Over time, we continued learning and improving, giving birth to our project. He chuckles at the memories of his early sewing machine mishaps.

"Our dream is to be a workshop that provides opportunities to those in need. Despite initial challenges, such as lacking experience in crafting bags and searching for the right market, weve managed to provide jobs to others and teach them a valuable craft.

"Patricia shares how her parents, also artisans and traders for two decades, have been an inspiration. Growing up in a family business environment and traveling to various places to sell products left a deep imprint on her life.

"In our workshop, we work as a team, each with different roles. Some cut, others assemble, and Patricia assembles the bags. Our products arent just bags; they are handwoven pieces of art that tell stories and reflect the cultural richness of Guatemala. We use high-quality materials, including 100% vegan leather, to ensure the durability of our creations.

"Our mission is simple: we hope youll buy our products and trust that your purchase benefits not only us but also the people who work with us. Our designs are inspired by traditional Mayan womens attire, highlighting the cultural characteristics and traditions of Guatemala.

"In conclusion, were here to serve you with unique products that reflect the diversity of cultures and traditions in Guatemala. We hope your purchase brings you joy and proves to be highly useful. Each bag we create is a piece of art representing a part of our cultural heritage, and it continues to thrive thanks to your support. Thank you for supporting our work and appreciating the craftsmanship of our country!"
