"After a few years, we began to focus on designing and developing reusable bags made from 100% natural materials. These handmade textiles are created using ancient Mayan techniques like foot looms. These foot looms, operated by master artisans, require no electricity and ensure meticulous attention to detail in the textile production. The textile designs draw inspiration from nature and the vibrant landscapes of Guatemala.
"From the beginning, our main objectives have been to improve the quality of life for all those involved, enhance their skills, provide technical training, and reduce migration to other countries. In 2019, my niece Ana Cecilia joined the project, and since then, we have focused on developing new products and improving our processes.
Our products are renowned for their high quality, crafted with great attention to detail using environmentally friendly materials. We use raw cotton for linings and straps, and our accessories and threads are made from 100% cotton, certified and free of azo dyes.
"We believe that change is possible in both mindset and raising awareness, allowing us to initiate a transformation that contributes to reducing single-use plastics worldwide. Through preserving our ancestors' traditions, we can make a positive impact on future generations.
"Working as a family and collaborating with various artisan communities in Guatemala has deepened our love for our country. We are dedicated to improving people's lives, creating employment opportunities, and striving for sales growth. Although it hasn't been an easy task, we remain focused on the process and have clear goals.
"We are grateful to NOVICA for including us in their project. Knowing that our products will reach more people who will love and incorporate them into their lives is truly exciting for us."
