"This wonderfully original necklace is the design of Lucia Baraibar, who takes inspiration from the Wixarika or Huichol culture of Mexico. A sterling silver pendant is stitched with colorful nylon cords in a motif reminiscent of the Ojo de Dios, or 'God's Eye'. Dangling from the sterling silver pendant, a droplet of natural amber tells a story of the ages. The pendant centers a fuchsia nylon cord of adjustable length."

“I was in San Miguel de Allende when decided to deepen my knowledge with diploma courses on jewelry crafting in several places in Mexico and abroad.
“I feel a special attraction for silver and gemstones like the amber that abounds in Southern Mexico. The design possibilities are infinite and I love that. I want my jewelry to be appreciated for the Mexican essence I show in each design.
“A great deal of my inspiration comes from my experiences while traveling. Each type of handicrafts in the different regions I’ve visited has had an impact and this cultural wealth is the primary source in my creative process.
“It’s been a sort of wager for me to dedicate my time to design. But my passion for artisan jewelry attracted me so much that I had to trust in my grandmother’s advice and in my own ability.
“Today, I’m able to provide work for seven artisans and I also support an NGO that works with Mexico’s native peoples.
“I plan to create more and more designs, and give work to more families. I hope to share my work with the international community. It’s a process I enjoy enormously.”
