There’s a quiet revolution sweeping the world.
In a world increasingly anonymous and consolidated, we seek balance. We crave meaning and authenticity — now more than ever.
"Historically, one artist's fever-dream brought alebrijes to this world, inspiring many Mexican artists to express their art and expertise through this marvelous traditional style, incorporating vibrant colors and whimsical imagery, typically depicting phantasmagorical creatures. This unique sculpture by Alejandra Aceves is also part of that traditional artistic heritage. In this case it represents an homage to world peace. 'Thinking about what brings me peace, I recall walking under the trees, feeling their freshness, the smell of pure air, my feet on the black ground softened by the rain, and the purring of a cat,' the artisan muses. 'I designed this alebrije to symbolize that feeling of peace, portrayed as a hybrid creation: a cat, bird and tree in harmony.' The alebrije's collar carries an olive branch. 'I had a teacher who said 'the best fight is the one that's avoided,'' the artist continues. 'I also believe this. It is better to prevent conflicts by resolving them. By reducing social inequality, mitigating hunger, and avoiding inequality, we can help achieve peace. Through education, we can achieve a more inclusive society based on respect for ourselves and for others.'"
