"Created for the World Peace Project, the artist explains her vision: 'We are inspired by the hummingbirds and wildlife, which foster a sense of peace and tranquility with their simple way of life, we can learn from them,' says Blanca Canto. Representing peace and tranquility, a family of hummingbirds lives in complete harmony as they drink the sweet nectar of tropical flowers in this dried gourd figurine, conveying the pure nature of their existence. Engraving the elaborate design by hand with a fine point embossing tool and coating in wax to seal the finish, Blanca Canto perpetuates the customary calabash handicraft of the Inca using her family's traditional crafting methods. Canto seeks to preserve this millennia-old tradition by passing on her techniques to children at the local school and to young people in her community. 'Titled 'Entrelazo de Hermandad' in Spanish."
